Southern Police Institute, certificate, 1969; National Executive Institute, certificate, 1984. Member, Maryland Chiefs of Police Association; National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). Life member, International Association of Chiefs of Police; National Association of Black Public Administrators; American Correctional Association. Honorary Doctor of Laws degree, John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Recipient of numerous civic and superior public service awards. Speaker's Medallion, House of Delegates, 1998. First Citizen Award, Maryland Senate, 2003. Married; two children, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Died in Towson, Maryland, January 6, 2014.


In 2007, the Baltimore City Police Department annex headquarters was named for Mr. Robinson as the Bishop L. Robinson, Sr., Police Administration Building at 601 East Fayette St., Baltimore.
