DAVID W. EDGERLEY
David W. Edgerley came to the Department of Business and Economic Development with an accomplished and varied economic development background. He led innovative and ambitious economic development efforts in Allegany and Montgomery Counties, giving him a broad perspective on Maryland's strong and diverse economy.
Mr. Edgerley began his career in Allegany County, directing both the Office of Development Assistance and the Department of Economic Development. There, he led the creation and redevelopment of six business parks, created Allegany County's first business incubator, and implemented the County's first revolving building fund.
In Montgomery County, Mr. Edgerley continued to leverage the power of technology as an economic development driver. As Director of Economic Development, he created Montgomery County's highly successful technology incubator network, now home to 80 life sciences and technology companies. He also led development of the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center and expanded high-tech business partnerships with The Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland, and leading technology companies.
Secretary Edgerley received his B.A. from Frostburg State University, and an M.B.A. from Mount St. Mary's College. He is also a past president of the Maryland Economic Development Association. He and his family reside in Germantown, Maryland.
