CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION
Organized in 2003, Criminal Justice Division oversaw two programs: Criminal Justice, and Local Law Enforcement. It also assisted Cease Fire Council.

GOVERNOR'S COUNCIL ON FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION
Restructured as Governor's Family Violence Council in Oct. 2008 (Executive Order 01.01.2008.16).
HOTSPOT COMMUNITY INITIATIVES PROGRAM
Initiated in July 1997, HotSpot Community Initiatives Program started as a three-year program. It targeted resources to 36 communities with high levels of crime. Funds supported more police officers, probation agents, nuisance abatement teams, and citizen patrols, as well as after-school activities. By concentrating resources in these areas, State hoped to reduce serious crime by 25 to 35 percent. In 1999, Program was expanded to 26 more neighborhoods.
In 2003, Program was restructured as Collaborative Supervision and Focused Enforcement Program.
JUVENILE JUSTICE ADVISORY COUNCIL
In June 2002, Council reformed as a committee of State Board for Juvenile Justice within Department of Juvenile Justice (Executive Order 01.01.2002.02).

In 2001, renamed Criminal Justice Program.

Metro Region Office covered Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties, and Baltimore City. Office provided access to all public safety fund programs as well as Domestic Violence Unit Pilot Program, Sex Offender Compliance and Enforcement in Maryland Program, and Violence Against Women Act Program.
Initiated in May 1991, Partnership was an alliance of Maryland government with private media and advertising professionals to discourage abuse of narcotics and alcohol. With pro bono air time and committed print space, Partnership conducted an aggressive, statewide multimedia campaign against substance abuse.
Reorganized as Policy, Research, and Training in 2011.

Victims of Crime Division began as Victims of Crime: Policy, Planning, and Services Division and assumed its present name in July 2003. It supported strategic programs to help crime victims. Division administered federal and State grants that assist victims in general and victims of specific crimes, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Grants fund training and technical assistance; policy development and implementation; and victim advocacy. To provide a comprehensive community-coordinated response to violence, Division promoted collaboration among criminal justice agencies and coordination of community services.
In July 2003, reorganized as two divisions: Criminal Justice, and Youth Services.
On Jan. 31, 2007, merged with Equal Justice and Policy Division to form Juvenile Justice Policy Unit.
Under Youth Services Division, disbanded in July 2005.
